While the US is headed to its next presidential election, France has already completed hers. Incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy from the UMP (right) ran against winner François Holland of the Socialist Party (left) in the final round. Mr. Holland is the first president from the Socialist party to be elected president since François Mitterrand ended his term in 1996. As was the case with the previous US election, much of the voting had to do more with voting against the current office than for the new one. Nevertheless, we know that regardless of who holds office in our respective countries, believers are to respect and pray for their leaders and not bad mouth them and wish for their bad (Romans 13:1-5). We are to love them as ourselves (Mark 12:29-31). If you wish to know how to pray not just for the president of France but also for the country herself, please visit PrayforFrance.
As for me, not much is new. The restaurant closed the middle of April for mud season here in Summit county (this is when all the tourists leave until Summer because the ski areas close). I had been working all but one day a week during the busy season and sometimes the entire week. Therefore I have been enjoying my time off !
With it I have finished a book report on Serving as Senders for the pastor who heads up the missions committee. Missions is a much about the team sending as it is about the one sent. Failure, misconduct or only half effort by either side can lead to a mission that does not meet its potential. Paul was nothing without the great team behind him. The more each party realises and executes its responsibility to each other and the mission the stronger and more effective the team and mission. My church does a fantastic job but there’s always room for improvement in any facet of life.
The days have been more beautiful recently allowing me to run outside ! Don’t be delusional however, it still snows from time to time, haha. This is really great because I am training for my first running race : a 10k in Boulder, Colorado on May 28th. To be honest I do not like running. So, in order to motivate myself I decided to do this. It’s working so far and maybe one day I’ll actually enjoy it, haha.
The path to BIOLA continues to look promising. I received a confirmed financial aide package that is half of my total cost for the 2012/2013 year ! Praise God !!! I have been hunting for housing for a while and it is a bit discouraging. Despite sending out several emails and texts to possibilities, I have not heard back but from a couple... no of which are promising. God is of course knows what He is doing and so I trust in Him. When has He ever let me down ?! So thank you God in advance for Your perfect provision !
Praises : 1. The respite from work has been great and productive ! 2. Half of my tuition is covered through a scholarship and loan offered through Biola ! 3. Warm weather 4. A pet sitting job during my time off from the restaurant 5. The health God has given me as I train for the BolderBoulder
Prayer Requests : 1. All my needs met for schooling : finances, housing within 5 miles of campus, a job within 5 miles of campus, a church and a group of godly guys 2. Wisdom to know when to move to California (as housing and jobs become more sarce the closer a tourist season approaches so I'm assuming is the case near a university as the school year approaches3. Salvation of my co-workers 4. Be 100% faithful and present where God has me now 5. A pure and contrite heart
